Kino: I have some mixed feelings about [helping them], though.
Hermes: Why?
Kino: If I didn't help them out, then one rabbit wouldn't have died today.
Hermes: Why worry about that now? You've gone hunting tons of times before.
Kino: The reasoning is different if I'm hunting for myself. I understand that even the portable rations I ate were made by stealing the lives of other creatures. But in this situation, even though I hold neither resentment nor obligation towards either those guys or the rabbit, I still decided to help out one rather than the other.

Hermes: Kino, if the world really was going to end tomorrow, what would you do?
Kino: Hmm.. even if that was true, I'd still go to bed for today.

Woman: Kino, you could have stopped me if you wanted to. Why didn't you?
Kino: Because I'm not God.
